Presentation – North Cave Wetlands- a Win for All by Stephen Martin and Mike Ashforth

This site has been developed over recent years in a former quarry site. Quarrying is still continuing adjacent to the site. There is one of the biggest hides in the area here and it is well known for its good numbers of wetland birds. Steve and Mike will provide us with more background knowledge on the site.

Car trip to Sherwood Forest

The RSPB have joined in the management of this famous site and this trip gives the group its first opportunity to explore the new visitor's centre as well as investigate what birds are attracted to the site. Meet in the car park. B6034 north of Edwinstowe.

Car trip to Whisby and Langford Lowfield nature reserves

A chance to visit 2 sites in one day. We meet in the car park at Whisby which is south of Lincoln. This site is famous for its nightingales but they have been less numerous in recent years. We will then move on to the RSPB Langford Lowfield site which is near Newark. This is another relatively recent site which is becoming well-established.

Car trip to Padley Gorge

This is another of our favourites and involves quite a bit of walking, some of it uphill. Redstarts, pied flycatcher and cuckoos are possible here along with many other woodland birds. We meet at 9am at the car park at Grindleford station. Please note that in 2018 they have introduced parking fees.
